Few Words About Me

I was born and raised in Bilgoraj, a small city in Poland. My mom struggled to keep me home as I’ve always loved to travel, hike, run, and follow even the most ridiculous dreams. A good example was flying to the other side of the world to chase my athletic goals, and as I soon realized, start the best adventure of my life.

In the next sections, you can learn about my education and experience, but before I let you go, I want to mention one more thing. I've been taking online coding classes since 2017, but the real breakthrough happened in 2020. Forced to put my adventurous soul aside due to COVID, I spent all my free time developing Python projects. I loved it too much to let it be just my hobby. In 2021, I quit my job at the bank and went back to school to get a master’s degree in Computer Science. From playing with simple programs to building a Goggle-like search engine, I've assured myself software development is exactly the field I want to be in.

In January 2023, I joined the software engineering team at SuChef, and it's been an amazing experience to see how my graduate projects directly apply to real life. As I'm getting closer to completing my internship and moving back to Poland, I’m currently looking for my next career step. I hope you and I can make this one together.

Education

As much as I wanted to become a doctor in high school, my plans changed when I got an athletic scholarship at the University of San Francisco (USF). I couldn't study medicine out there, but my passion for running made me fly across the world to join USF's Cross Country and Track & Field teams nevertheless. I loved math, so I chose Finance major and Economics minor, as it was the closest I could get to my interest in numbers (I wish I took a Computer Science class!).

I spent 3 years pursuing my degree at USF when a new opportunity appeared. I was offered a full athletic scholarship at the University of Oregon, one of the best programs for runners in the US. I decided to keep chasing my dreams and transferred there in August 2018. I switched my major to Business Administration with focus on Finance and finished the Economics minor. Upon graduation in March 2020, I hoped to become a professional runner and represent Poland at the Olympics, but COVID has made both of them impossible.

Having no races and athletic contracts in perspective, I focused to my stay-at-home passion - coding. I liked it way too much, to the point that I decided to come back to school for a master's degree in Computer Science. After intense two years, I finally got my master’s degree in hand, and even stronger desire to explore this field further. I’m confident that UPenn equipped me with the valuable skills and tools to become a successful software developer, and I look forward to applying them in the professional setting.
